Location
San Cayetano is situated in the region of Murcia on the
southeast
corner of Spain in an area called the Costa
Calida (the warm coast)
The house is situated on the edge of the traditional Spanish village of San Cayetano which features a selection of restaurants (serving a range of food from tapas, English food and a la carte), bars, banks and shops. The communal areas boast stunning landscaped gardens and swimming pools.
The village has all that is required so a car is not essential, although it is recommended to allow you to explore the surrounding area. A local bus service will also take you to surrounding areas. A train station 10 minutes drive away will take you to such destinations as Alicante, Barcelona, and Murcia.
Beaches:
Hacienda San Cayetano is superbly situated, just a 10 minute drive from the fabulous sandy beaches of the Mar Menor which is said to be 3-5 degrees warmer than the Mediterranean.
The Mar Menor sea inlet, Europe's biggest salt-water lagoon, is created by a narrow strip of land known as La Manga del Mar Menor and you will find many water sports and activities. Beaches on the Costa Calida are excellent; it is believed to have great curative properties for ailments such as rheumatism
Activities:
The lively seaside towns of San Javier, Los Alcazares and San Pedro del Pinata are 10-15 minutes drive away. Sport facilities such as horse riding and sports centres are also close by and the modern Dos Mares shopping complex with bowling alley, cinema and several restaurants is 10 minutes away.
Golf:
For golf-lovers, the surrounding area is home to some of Southern Spain's finest courses, including La Torre, Peraleja, Hacienda Riquelme, Hacienda del Alamo, and Roda Golf to name just a few.
Surrounding areas:
For those wanting the attractions of an historic city, the regional capital of Murcia, with its magnificent cathedral, beautiful meandering river, famous bridges and plentiful shopping is only a 25 minute drive away.
Popular tourist destinations include Mazarrón where fishing ports, fish auctions and golden beaches are impressive. Aguilas has lovely garden areas that are a must-see; this is where the church of San Jose and the town hall can be found. Cabo de Palos is another famous tourist destination because of its unique 19th century lighthouse and beaches that can be found in this seafront village.
Further afield Cartagena is the largest port on the Costa Calida, and is famous for its rich naval tradition and many archaeological treasures. The famous La Manga resort, where sports stars and sun seekers come together in one complex, is less than 30 minutes drive away

The average annual temperature is 20C, the area has less than 40 days of rain a year and the sea temperature rarely falls below 18C.
The World Health Organisation recently declared the province of Murcia the cleanest area in Spain with the least industrial pollution, while Murcia’s international airport at San Javier is also within a short drive.
